The long… LONG, trip to Phoenix
Today we drove from Vegas to phenix arizona… I have never seen soooooooooooooo much NOTHINGNESS!!!!!!!!!!!! The only exciting thing about this drive was the Joshua tree forest, they are so cool looking! At the top it looks like a palm tree and the bottom looks like a pine tree! How awesome is that!? The other exciting thing was we passed a Lamborghini on the freeway! I mean come on how awesome is that? A fifteen passenger van can pass a Lamborghini! Haha guess they have a little work to do!

Shutting down Anthem
We went back to Anthem to ride until they shut the lights off. Things cleared out fairly quickly and we were able to get some good runs in. As it got to 3 minutes before closing, the park official had to honk the horn at us to let us know he was ready to close the park and go home.
When we rode past, he commented, “If you want to ride some more, just come back tomorrow.”
I replied, “I drove 400 miles to ride here and we are leaving tomorrow. I don’t have that luxury.”
I got no response.
Many thanks to Kenneth, who rode with us to the end.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend
Syracuse, UT to Las Vegas, NV to Chandler, AZ

On the way to Durango Hills YMCA
Bard missed the turn to go West on Highway 95. We had to detour East and turn around. So, we got headed in the right direction and he missed the turn on Cheyenne due to the construction. When I looked up, we were already to Ann Street. He said, “You can’t blog and be navigator at the same time.”
He told the boys when we got turned around, that he could tell that they needed a little more car time to rest, so he took them on a tour of Las Vegas.
Anthem Hills Skate Park
It is an amazing thing to ride there when you are the only ones in the park. That is what we found this morning for about an hour.
Wes kept asking me if we were ready to leave about 10 times. I told him, “I’m just getting warmed up!”.
A big shout out to our new friends Jason and Mike. Keep riding dudes. Thanks for the heads up on the 2 web sites: www.oldguysthatride.com and http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-4130-BMX-Club/202754794713.
2nd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend Road Trip Begins
We are headed south again! This is the second year we have gone to Las Vegas, Nevada and Chandler, Arizona to ride over the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend. The weather looks like it will be on our side this year. Clear and 63 in Las Vegas on Saturday. Clear and 71 in Phoenix on Monday.
It is a quick trip, but we are all excited! We were able to get on the road at 3:00 p.m. We should be in Las Vegas by 8:00 p.m. local time. I love getting that extra hour.
